THE EVOLUTION OF RICKY MARTIN'S GAYNESS
The Evolution of Ricky's Gayness continues...
For a long time, the latin singer has always been plagued with gay rumours. I dunno why, to me he seems straight but I guess to others he looks gay?? Go Fig!
After becoming the father of twins who were conceived by artificial insemination, the rumours are now even more rampant. Here is a story that looks at his love life through out the years:
Enrique Martin Morales, better known by his stage name Ricky Martin, has long been rumoured to be gay. Martin, however, told Plus 7 Days magazine in in 2000 that he was "a normal man. I love women and sex. I am a real hot-blooded Puerto Rican, but have never been attracted by sex with a man."
Martin said in 2003 that he been dating Mexican TV host Rebeca de Alba on and off for over 14 years and was thinking about starting a family.
However, the two later parted ways. He has also been linked romantically to Daisy Fuentes, actress Lilly Melger and tennis star Gabriela Sabatini, among others.
Though Martin has blown off rumours about his sexual orientation and been consistently linked to romantic relationships with women, rumours he is gay or bisexual continue to follow him regardless.
When asked by Barbara Walters in 2005 about his sexual orientation, the Puerto Rico-born singer replied that "sexuality is something that each individual should deal with in their own way. And that’s all I have to say about that."
In addition to his career as a multi-platinum selling artist, Martin is also known for his charitable activism, including his contributions to the fight against the sexual exploitation of children.
After a sabbatical to get acquainted with his new children, Martin will reportedly return to the studio sometime next year. [SOURCE]
Well what do you guys think? It's hard to say in today's world. It seems like the media makes everyone gay and really its making it too hard to find out who is and who isn't. I guess we can leave that one still to Fame Blogger Perez Hilton!

94% TOP US COMPANIES PROTECT GAY EMPLOYEES
Good News for the working Gays in the U.S.!! Looks like the majority of the Fortune 500 companies include sexual orientation in their employment nondiscrimination policies. From a survery that was done, 471 (94.2%) of the 500 American corporations voluntarily include sexual orientation. Not bad eh? I mean it should be 100% but hey at least it's close!
"In 2003, when Equality Forum began contacting the Fortune 500 companies, 323 (64.6%) companies explicitly provided sexual orientation protection in their workplace policies," the group said in a statement.
"Equality Forum reached out to the CEOs, Human Resource Directors and all members of the Boards of Directors of the 177 (35.4%) companies without this protection."
By 2004, 405 (81%) Fortune 500 companies had extended protections.
"The Fortune 500 have overwhelmingly decided that including sexual orientation is in the best corporate interest and helps communicate corporate values to the estimated $660 billion annual domestic GLBT consumer market," stated Malcolm Lazin, Executive Director, Equality Forum. [SOURCE]

LANCE IS EXCITED TO HAVE FEMALE LACEY AS A PARTNER ON "...STARS"
Dancing With Stars Producers have come forward to talk about their first gay competitor and to tell the truth about the partnership of Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer. It seems like there was never the intention to have a male-male partnership on the show, however the pairing of couples is not random according to the producers:
Think the producers behind "Dancing with the Stars" find it easy to match up the show's celebrities with their professional partners? Think again.
"It's not random at all," Deena Katz, senior producer for the award-winning ABC reality show, told the Daily News of the pairings.
Height, personality, looks and even age were considered for this season's cast match-ups, which Katz says took about a week to hash out.
Further on in the article we see a deeper discussion about having Lance on the show. They talk about his involvement and how some people think viewers would react to having two males dancing with each other on Prime Time TV:
Which begs the question: Should openly gay contestant Lance Bass have been paired with a man?
USA Dance doesn't have explicit rules against same-sex competitive couples, Prince says - even though the pairing is not a common practice in the U.S.
"He happens to be gay, but that's not why he's on our show," Katz explained. "We're not a dating show - although sometimes it ends up that way."
Bass' manager, Cindy Owen, said the network "never had the intention" of partnering her client with a man, adding "he's very excited to have Lacey [Schwimmer] as a partner."
According to GLAAD president Neil G. Giuliano, Bass' participation in the show "presents a great opportunity for audiences to see gay people included in pop culture in a matter-of-fact kind of way."
"Could it be great to see two gay dancers paired on a show like this? Absolutely! We know that there are many competitive gay and lesbian dance pairs out there, and that might be something ABC and other networks' dance shows would want to consider including in the future."
Chuck Stewart, founder of Out Dancing Ballroom, a same-sex dancing troupe from Los Angeles, says that the show's producers can do whatever they want, but may be limited by more conservative expectations.
"Who do I think is afraid? The advertisers," he said. "I personally think if you got two hot guys together dancing, people will watch." [SOURCE]

LESBIAN THROWN OUT OF FED BUILDING FOR WEARING A LESBIAN SHIRT
Get this. A woman was thrown out of a Federal Building in Southern California for wearing a shirt with the word "Lesbian" on it. I love their reasoning.. "Its Offensive".. Bah Ha Ha Ha Ha.
Lapriss Gilbert says she went to the building in Van Nuys on Monday to pick up a Social Security card for her son. But before she could make it to the queue she was stopped by a security guard.
Gilbert said she was told that the t-shirt, which bore the words “Lesbian.com,” was offensive. The web site is a popular educational resource for lesbians.
Gilbert told The Contra Costa Times that the guard demanded that she leave the building or face arrest.
“As an African-American and a lesbian, I haven’t been through one day without facing some sort of discrimination…but this is just shocking,” Gilbert, 31, told the newspaper.
The guard was not a government employee but works for Paragon, a private company hired by the Department of Homeland Security.
A spokesperson for the department said the guard’s actions were “inappropriate and unacceptable” and that Paragon had been contacted.
Gilbert and her mother Tanya, who is also a lesbian and a longtime LGBT activist, say they are contacting an attorney. Gilbert told the Times that she may file a federal civil rights lawsuit.
The younger Gilbert called her mother after being escorted out of the building. The mother called police but before officers arrived another Paragon guard told Gilbert she could enter the building and escorted her to the Social Security line.
A witness contacted by The Times backs up Gilbert’s account.
“For her to be told to leave was completely unnecessary, especially considering how peaceful and quiet she was responding the the security officers,” Paul Dumont told the paper. “Nobody in that office felt her t-shirt was offensive by any means.”
In a statement to police, Dumont said the guard’s “loud, unreasonable, aggressive and angry approach to the situation almost caused chaos.” [SOURCE]
Wow, I hope this so-called gaurd gets canned.. Thats so unacceptable. Geesh!!

SOME HALLMARK STORES NOT GOING TO BE CARRYING "GAY CARDS"
Certain Hallmark shops are simply not going to be carrying "Gay" cards because.. well they are gay!!
A manager says seven Hallmark greeting card stores in the Treasure Valley will not carry the company's new same-sex marriage cards.
Cassi Jacobsen, an assistant manager for the Jordan's Hallmark store in Nampa's Karcher Mall, says the family that owns the seven area stores has decided against carrying the new line of greeting cards. She said the owners were out of town and not immediately available for comment.
Reaction to the cards has been mixed.
Idaho Family Values Alliance Executive Director Bryan Fischer sent out a press release Thursday calling for local-area Hallmark stores not to carry the cards.
But Delmar Stone of Nampa, executive director of the National Association of Social Workers Idaho Chapter, called the cards "wonderful." [SOURCE]
Well obviously these stores are promoting homophobia. I am not sure how long this will last. If Hallmark wants their stores to sell them then would it not be mandatory for them to be in all stores? I Guess we will have to wait and see.
NBC SENDS OUT HOMOPHOBIC VIEWS ON OUT OLYMPIC WINNER MATTHEW MITCHAM
Wow. Looks like we have a Homophobic Network Station on our hands. After winning his gold medal, Matthew Mitcham had an interview with him thanking his mum and partner. NBC had a clip of him winning and showed him in an interview on TV but decided to remove any mention of his partner or show the pic of him hugging his mum and bf. How Rude eh? Here is the story:
After pulling off a last minute victory against the Chinese in the 10m dive, Mr Mitcham, while hugging his mother and his partner, he told reporters: "I want to thank absolutely everyone who helped; my partner Lachlan and my mum [Vivienne] here to support me and watch me get gold, because it was so important to have those two people here with me.
"I did not think I had a chance to get the gold and to actually get that was mind-blowing! I was crying thinking I had silver. And to get gold! I was a blubbering mess."
Despite intensive coverage by NBC of other Olympic athletes' families, Mr Mitcham's partner received virtually no attention during the network's coverage.
Cyd Zeigler of Outssports said: "It's a big story. The only openly gay male athlete in Beijing pulled off one of the great upsets at the Olympics in a spectacular fashion.
"If he had had cancer, or if his parents had been killed in a car crash when he was 2, or if he had just proposed to his girlfriend, they would have mentioned it. But they never showed him hugging his boyfriend, never mentioned it. They referred to 'personal problems,' but I'm afraid they decided Matthew’s sexuality was off limits. A real shame."
The following interview with Mr Mitcham in which he appears with his mother and partner, did not feature on NBC's Olympic coverage of his historic win. [SOURCE]

HOTTIE OF THE DAY!
CANADA'S CAPITAL SHOWS ITS PRIDE!!
"O Canada!" 35000 people came out to celebrate Pride in Canada's Capital Ottawa this past weekend. Woot Woot!!
Rainbow flags of all shapes and sizes wound their way through Ottawa with the 35,000 people who turned out for Ottawa's 19th annual gay pride parade Sunday afternoon.
Thousands of spectators gathered to watch around 1,200 members of the city's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community and their supporters, some elaborately costumed and others scantily clad, march along Wellington Street to city hall as part of the final day of Capital Pride, their week-long annual community festival.
Julien Lavoie, a spokesman for Capital Pride, said the parade, which paused at the Supreme Court and the Parliament Buildings, was partly intended to send a political message.
He said those Ottawa buildings are the sites of major battles for gay and lesbian rights.
"So it's important for us to keep remembering that and celebrating those victories," he said.
"And then it also has kind of a looking-forward message, saying maybe this is not enough and maybe there's still some inequalities that gays and lesbians face."
Capital Pride closed Sunday night after a day of concerts at the Festival Plaza. [SOURCE]
Thats Brilliant. So Excited to see that many come out. I know Ottawa is not so populated as Montreal or Toronto but hey.. at least they had a good showing!!

FRIDAY'S DELAYED HOTTIE OF THE DAY!
ED WESTWICK SPEAKS OUT ABOUT GAY RUMOURS WITH CHASE
Looks like Ed Westwick is speaking out about those pesty rumours about him and Chase. I mean if they are not true then I can understand the frustration regarding the issue, however if it is true then.. well.. it's just plain hot!!
Ed sits down with weekend's edition of high brow Page Six Magazine:
"People think Chace is gay, and thought I was gay, that we were humping. It’s not true, but hilarious. People project their fantasies onto people. I’ve never been someone who makes it my objective to go out and pick up chicks. But I’ve met some fantastic ladies here. You know those amazing conversations where you find yourself in a café talking until 2 a.m. and never see them again." [SOURCE]

CONSERVATIVE ACTIVISTS REACT TO GAY MEDIA
Conservative activists are reacting all over the US in regards to Hallmark's "Gay" cards and Ellen's Cover on People Magazine. Groups such as Focus on the Family and American Family Association are beginning their protests. Oh My.. Watch Out Everyone (Insert Sarcasm). Jeff Bercovici from Portfolio.com discusses the following:
I was certain there would be some sort of aggressive response from the usual religious/"traditional values" groups, such as Focus on the Family and the American Family Association, to the issue, which features the marriage of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia DiRossi on the cover. Just this week, after all, AFA exhorted its members to protest Hallmark's decision to start selling same-sex wedding cards. (Some 3.4 million people supposedly receive AFA's action alerts.) And People isn't exactly an obscure target -- it's the biggest media company in the world's most profitable title.
But so far, nothing. I've contacted spokespersons for Focus, AFA and the Catholic League just to make sure I'm not missing something, but none had any comment. A People spokeswoman says there hasn't been any negative reaction so far from readers or advertisers -- although that could change, since the magazine is only now going on sale in many parts of the country.

LESBIAN/BI WOMEN SHOWING OFF THEIR OLYMPIC WINNINGS!
On the topic of the Olympics, the Lesbians are doing quite well themselves. Six of the 13 out lesbian and bisexual women competing at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing ended up winning gold, silver, or bronze medals. Not too bad eh?
Its great to see the LGBTQ do well in the Olympics. Like Matthew, it gives us visibility and to show the world we are meant to be on this planet too.

OUT GAY SWIMMER WINS OLYMPIC GOLD!
Openly Gay Australian Swimmer Matthew Mitcham had a near-perfect dive to win Olympic gold on Saturday in front of a crowd that included his partner Lachlan Fletcher, he made history. Mitcham will go down as the most significant out male Olympic athlete ever.
In a Post-Dive Interview:
“I want to thank absolutely everyone who helped; my partner Lachlan and my mom [Vivienne] here to support me and watch me get gold, because it was so important to have those two people here with me,” Mitcham said in a post-dive interview. “I didn’t think I had a chance to get the gold and to actually get that was mind-blowing. Good for him. Proud to say there is an openly gay athlete in the Olympics. To be gay is one thing but to show the world you're out and proud is another. Matthew is an inspiration for all athletes, in/out of the closet.
