BIG BROTHER 10 STEVEN SPEAKS!

Over at AfterElton.com, they sat down with Steven from Big Brother 10 for a little Q&A and see what is brewing in the mind of this season's gay competitor. The interviews goes on about his arguements with Libra to his friendship with Brian. Its actually a good read and you actually get to know more of the guy since he got kicked out quite early in the game. Here is a little tid bit of what the interview looked like:

AfterElton: You stirred up some early controversy when the live feed viewers saw you refer to Libra as “that colored girl”, a term many people find antiquated and insensitive. How would you respond to those who felt that wasn’t your best moment in the house?

Steven Daigle: Wow. Again, I haven’t seen anything so I’m guessing that was taken out of context and I’d love to clarify that real quick. Not to condemn anybody else in the house, but basically the story goes Jerry kept forgetting Libra’s name and kept referring to her as “the colored girl” and I was telling someone – we were actually discussing the fact that someone needed to sit down with him and talk to him and tell him that he probably needed to watch what he was saying, that saying “That colored girl” was probably not a proper way to refer to Libra.
If he can’t remember her name he should not say anything. I hope I don’t come off that way. I’m definitely am guilty of sometimes stereotyping people but I would not have gone around calling Libra “that colored girl”.

[Editor's note: Clips from the live feed clearly show Steven referring to Libra as "that colored girl".]

WHERE'S NIGEL'S LUV 4 THE GAYS ON "IDOL" & "DANCE"

On AfterElton.com they sat down with the Judge/Producer about gays representing on the two shows. I am a huge fan of both, more of So You Think You Can Dance, and could see how some would think that Nigel may have some Ill Feelings towards the gay community. He does provide lots of witty comments and Idol does have a lack of "out" contestants, which can have Nigel perceived has anti-gay.

It has been rumoured that American Idol has told some gay contestants in the past to keep their sexuality under wraps to help them get further in the competition. Again this is just a rumour but it has been going on for several years. Take a look at some excerpts taken from the interview with the Brit:

AfterElton.com: What’s your response to the criticism that neither American Idol nor Step it Up and Dance has ever included any out gay contestants?
Nigel Lythgoe: You mean homosexual guys who have come out? We’ve never thought about it, to be honest. I don’t actually go around and say, "Excuse me are you gay or are you straight?" It isn’t a question that we ask.

AE: But it would come up.
NL: No it wouldn’t. I’m never worried if anybody’s gay. What I don’t like on the dance show, to be frank, is effeminate boys that mince around the stage. I don’t care if they’re gay or straight. That’s got nothing to do with it for me.

AE: Why don’t you like the effeminate [dancers]?
NL: Because they need to be very strong. Dancing is role-playing most of the time. And you need to be strong and lift girls. You need to look stronger than the girl you’re dancing with. You control the dance, especially in ballroom. So if you mince about the stage, you’re not doing what the choreographer is asking you to do. He’s asking you to be strong. If your choreographer then wants to do an effeminate routine, then that’s fine, but most of the time we don’t do effeminate routines so straight or gay doesn’t come into it for me.

I dunno, I like the dude and he is right about effeminate dancers. I mean its cool to be gay but you got to show some masculinity when you dance. It's always been like that. Some gays have represented on that show and they pulled off the best masculine dances ever. One name in mind is Travis Wall. One word: Hot!!

HOLLYOAKS GAY HUNK SPEAKS!

For some hotness today, I bring forth James Sutton. James plays gay character John Paul McQueen on the British soap Hollyoaks, although he is straight in real life, his portrayal of the gay teen John Paul is remarkable and has been getting a lot of praise from the gay community.

His job playing John Paul is now coming to an end after playing the part since September 2006. He is on his way to better things he says but took some time to sit down with Michael Jensen over at AfterElton.com and have a little Q&A session.

He Talks about his time being on the show, his thoughts on the gay community, what it's like to play a gay character while being straight and much more. Here is a tidbit of the convo:

AE: You have done a lot of interviews and seem really comfortable with the character and playing him. I suspect the way you haven’t made a big deal about playing a gay character is half of the reason why you’re so popular with our readers. Where do you come by that attitude with the role? Did you start out that way or did you come into that as you went along?

JS: I’ve always kind of had that. I spent a good part of my youth [in the theater] and there were a lot of openly gay men … so I was always around that kind of environment and always kind of comfortable around the gay community. I still occasionally go to a gay bar with people and hang out and stuff, so I’ve never had any kind of [discomfort] or anything with it. And I’m just an actor and it’s just a part and … if they need me to kiss another guy or be physical with another guy or whatever it may be … I’m comfortable with myself to do that. I’m quite comfortable in my own skin, you know?

This guy is cute.. Love the Accent as well.. Who Doesn't Love a British Accent? Too bad he is leaving soon. I was just getting used to him on the show. Its being aired on BBCK in Canada. What do you guys think of James??
