ELLEN GETTING MARRIED THIS WEEKEND??

Wedding Bells may be in the air for everyone's favourite Lesbian couple. There are rumours floating around that Ellen and Portia are going to become one this weekend. Could this be true?? We may have to wait till Monday. Here are what some are speculating:

Comedienne and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres marry her long-term partner, actor Portia de Rossi, in California this weekend.

The couple are reportedly holding an intimate ceremony with close friends and family.

DeGeneres said of De Rossi: "I feel like I found my perfect fit. She's taught me lessons about myself, and I feel like I've taught her."

The ban on gay marriage in California was lifted in May.

Since then there has been debate over whether it should remain legally recognised, and the decision to allow gay marriage may yet be reversed.

The California Marriage Protection Act, if passed by voters in November, would amend the state constitution to define marriage as only 'between a man and a woman.' [SOURCE]

I am so excited. I always wonder what my Gay wedding will look like. So freakin crazy when you really think about it. Who wears what? Who Walks Where? Who Says What? Soo many questions.. But hey.. At least I can marry the guy I love here in Canada. Woot Woot!

A HIGH SCHOOL BOARD SUPPORTS BAN ON MARRIAGE IN CALIFORNIA

Ewww.. I Hope people riot this High School. Who does this? Kids are being harassed for their sexual orientation even if they are not gay, so why promote hate?

The Grossmont Union High School District went on record yesterday supporting a November initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in California.

The board voted 4-0 to pass a resolution endorsing Proposition 8, which would amend the state Constitution to recognize marriage only between a man and a woman.

Trustee Richard Hoy abstained.

Several board members urged the board not to vote for the resolution, saying Proposition 8 had nothing to do with education.

Grossmont is believed to be the first public school board in the state to endorse the initiative. Supporters of Proposition 8 argue that the state Supreme Court's action clearing the way for same-sex marriage means students as early as kindergarten will be taught that same-sex marriage is the same as a traditional marriage.

Proposition 8 opponents disagree. [SOURCE]

I remember when I was in High School (Not Even Out) and being treated harshly by others because they thought I was gay. I even dated my best friend, Precillia and even though it settled down a bit, I was still teased.

I am absolutely disgusted with this school and I hate to wish badness on people but.. but.. No.. I will just bite my tongue and move on.. Enough Said!

DUTCH SUB "BIRTH NAME" INSTEAD OF "MAIDEN NAME"

The Dutch are the coolest. They are so advanced with equality than most nations I find. They wanted to take equality to the next step. The have substituted using Maiden name to Birth name to not offend gays who take their spouses last name.

The Dutch civil service has developed a new name for "maiden name" so married gay men won't feel awkward.

"Geboortenaam" translates to "birth name". It will replace maiden name on official forms, radio Netherlands reported on Wednesday.
Despite its liberal reputation, Amsterdam and the rest of the Netherlands have been facing a rise in homophobic attacks over the last few years.

The government has committed to millions of Euros to fighting homophobia in the country.
A recent European poll found the Dutch to be the strongest supporters of same-sex marriage in the EU, with 82% in favour.

The Dutch Language Union hopes it will save married gay men from any embarrassment when taking their spouses surname. [SOURCE]

For me personally, it doesn't make a difference but I do think its nice that they are taking into consideration everyone. KUDOS to the Dutch.
