GAY MARRIAGE EXCLUDED IN U.S. 2010 CENSUS

Sparks are flying in the States right now because in the 2010 census gay marriage will not be included. I guess since it's only two states that have allowed it, loses to the majority. Sad.. Man, the U.S. needs some lessons on Equality.. GEESH..

The Census Bureau says the federal Defense of Marriage Act bars the agency from recognizing gay marriages in the nation's 10-year count, even though the marriages are legal in Massachusetts and California.

The agency's director, Steven Murdock, said in an interview Thursday that the 1996 federal law "has that effect, in terms of being a federal agency. We are restricted by it."

The Census Bureau does not ask people about their sexual orientation, but it does ask about their relationships to the head of the household. Many gay couples are listed in census figures as unmarried, same-sex partners, though it is an imperfect tally of all gay couples. [SOURCE]

What do you guys think about this? I feel like we have a long long road ahead of us before we are seen as equals but meh.. its just my sexuality.. does not make me, ME...

GAY AUSSIE OLYMPIC DIVER SLAMS PRIME MINISTER'S STANCE ON GAY MARRIAGE

I read this on Queerity.com. The "Out" Australian Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham is defending the right to be able to marry someone of the same sex. The Prime Minister Kevin Rudd believes that the institution of marriage should be only between a man and a woman. Mitcham does not believe this at all:

"[Mitcham] certainly bears the markings of a good gay role model: he’s successful, attractive and he’s not shy about speaking up on queer issues. When asked for his view on same-sex marriage, for instance, he has no compunction slamming Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.

“I’m not happy with Kevin Rudd,” he says, bluntly. “Kevin Rudd’s opinion of marriage as something that’s only between a man and a woman is quite narrow-minded. During the election campaign he was all about appearing young and cool, but his views on gay marriage make him look quite old-fashioned.”" [SOURCE]

I agree with Matthew.. I mean coming from Canada we see how it's really not a big deal at all to marry your partner, no matter what sex. It's about equality and we should be marry the person we love. That is what i believe in. You cannot help who you fall in love with..

MORMONS VS. CALIFORNIA = FIGHT!!!

Seems like the Gay Community in California are in for another fight. If its not the politicians, it's the religous groups. This time it's the Mormons... They are rallying for a full force war against gay marriage in California.

"A letter sent to Mormon bishops and signed by church president Thomas S. Monson and his two top counselors calls on Mormons to donate "means and time" to the ballot measure. A note on the letter dated June 20 says it should be read during church services on June 29, but the letter was published Saturday on several Web sites... The LDS church will work with a coalition of churches and other conservative groups that put the California Marriage Protection Act on the Nov. 4 ballot to assure its passage, the letter states. In May, California's Supreme Court overturned a voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage, saying gays could not be denied marriage licenses." [Source]

With all of this fighting over who can marry who, you begin to wonder why our world is falling apart...
